When will I ever learn...?

...not to attempt to do things myself which I'm seriously clueless about? I should have known after the wallpapering the bathroom experience that some things are just best left to the professionals. Hair cutting is one of those things (as my daughters will testify) and website construction is another.

It's been a grim week of late nights, tears and many, many rude words. If you've just come over here from Scribes, you'll know that Poppy Bear has been staying with us this week, so I think she'll have to go through a thorough programme of brainwashing before she can be allowed back into polite company. Half an hour with easycare colours at forty degrees should do it, I think...

The website still isn't ready because the host people (who couldn't host a third-rate game show on the graveyard shift at channel 5) keep telling me that the domain name isn't pointing at them. Now, I'm not by nature a violent person at all, but....
Anyway, thanks for coming to find me here-- and come back very soon for the promised coverage of Kate Walker's 50th book party!

Great job India. Those lessons are so hard to learn, yeah? But once we've gotten them down pat, it's a marvelous thing to behold!

Danielle! You're my first visitor!! Thank you so much for saying hello.

Now please just promise that if you ever hear me utter the words 'I'm sure root canal work can't be that difficult' you'll intervene immediately...

Oh Darling India!

I love the blog. And after reading about your wretched experiences, allow me to teach you my own, personal mantra that has protected me from pain and heartache:

"We Do Not Do What We Can Pay Others To Do."

This lesson, like yours, has been learned on my back (as I fell off a ladder), my front (slipped while shoveling), and a host of other appendages including: fingers, toes, face...I'm a klutz and I know this...why I continually try crazy things like taking down Christmas lights in some wretched effort to see if I'm still a klutz, is beyond me.

Good luck with the hosters & website!

Great to see the new blog, India, and I hope things soon come together with your new website.

I can well imagine what you would like to point at the host people!!! Preferably the painful, pointy end!!!!!!

Many congratulations on your first book. Enjoy every moment of it, you deserve it. It is a fantastic feeling and one which is very slow to wear off!!!

Good luck.

Love,
Mags

Ahh! It's beginning to feel like home now! Thank you Eva and Brown (great shoes, Eva) for coming over!

And Margaret, how well you understand me! A very sharp and pointy thing indeed! You're also absolutely right about that first book feeling... It seems such a long time that the book has been 'in waiting', but now it's finally getting close to release day I'm getting excited all over again!!

Hugs on the HTML and the horrid hosties. Hope they remember the words "customer" and "service" are meant to be preceded with "good" and not "bad"!

Lovely pic of you on the blog.

Can't wait to get your hands on your first book (which will be right next to a special one of mine!).

Oh, and I forgot to say... I think the website IS now working...

PS it only took me half an hour to post that comment. Resetting passwords, fishing messages out of spam, trying to explain that I HAD VERIFIED WHO I WAS and redoing it... again and again and again

Sigh.

Think I'll join you in the chocolate...

We cross posted, Kate!

Husband got a tamer hostie this afternoon, which has made all the difference (I'm sure it was the tameness of the hostie that made the difference, and not the fact that husband was a little more coherent than I was...)

Yes-- July is an EXCELLENT month for books, I feel!!
