The RNA shortlists have been announced. Lots of fabulous books, by lots of fabulous authors (and thanks to my lovely kindle I now have three new titles at my fingertips for weekend reading) including a certain Modern/Presents writer called Abby Green with her lush book Bride in a Gilded Cage. Now, if we were blokes, this is how we'd react to this news...
...As we're polite lady romance writers and readers, I think something like this is much more appropriate...
If it had been last year that you'd won YOURS, India - then you could have solemnly handed over the trophy, in the manner of Miss World placing crown on her successor!
Thanks India!! And thanks guys for the good luck and congratulations, I'm so excited! And very honoured. A huge congrats to all the other shortlisters too! x Abby
She's a goddess - I loved the book too. Sharon, if I'd have still had the trophy here I could have scratched her name onto it with the sharp end of a compass!
Brigitte and Joanna, I was very undecided about kindle until I actually got one. It was the idea of reading on a screen that put me off, since I spend my days looking at one, but because it's not back-lit it doesn't bother your eyes, and the convenience of being able to get any book you want in seconds is brilliant. The only negative for me is not being able to read it in the bath. (Perhaps you could risk it, but I have a history of dropping books into the bath, so have been forbidden from sneaking it in.)
Hey Abby - hope you're going to put pics from London on your News page, and all the details of the lovely posh breakfast where the shortlists were announced... Was there champagne? (Presumably no choco-wheats or cheerios crunching underfoot like breakfast time here...)

Ah yes Krug, so much more classy....
Now Bride in a Gilded Cage, I need to get.
You have a Kindle, lucky you.
I sometimes read on my netbook, but I prefer the real thing... pages in my hand.
Have a lovely week end, India.
