Kicking leaves

This is what happens when you take your children out after neglecting them for weeks on end because you've been too busy thinking about kissing James Franco. Leaf-related insanity ensues...

The weekend has been gorgeous. Saturday was damp and golden, Sunday all wreathed in blue-grey mist, and everything scented with fireworks and woodsmoke. Definitely the best time of the year, I think, and it was lovely to get a brief glimpse of it before getting my head into the book again.

My desk is now littered with conkers, scarlet leaves and fir cones collected by the girls as good luck charms. Let's hope they're as effective as they are pretty. I am so far behind it scares me....

Lovely pic, India. (Mine would love doing that, too!)

This is my fave time of the year. 'Seasons of mist and mellow fruitfulness' etc...

You'll be fine on the schedule. Take a deep breath, put on some mood music, get the chocolate by your keyboard, and glide into the writing zone :o)

Autumn is my favourite time of year, too, and I have so many happy memories of kicking through the fallen leaves as a child. Great pic.

You are not alone, deadline buddy, in being scared. Sending you cyber [[[hugs]]] and holding your hand in cyber space. We will get there. You keep telling me and I'll keep telling you!

Love,
Mags xx

Thanks Kate and Mags. It's at times like this that I fantasise about us all living together in one big romantic-writery commune, where the kettle is always on, there's always chocolate in the cupboard and loads of reassurance and hand-holding on site!!

(Do you think we'd get all territorial and possessive over our heroes though?)

Hope yours is going well, Mags. Think the only thing that'll get me to the end on time is some Kate Hardy fairy dust, but am sure you must be steaming ahead!

Lovely idea, India.

Mags isn't possessive about her heroes - she's lovely and gives me sneak peeks into her heroes file... (Psst, Mags - got any Greeks?)

One of the historical writers went on a lovely retreat the other week. It sounded wonderful.

In a perfect world, one can dream...

I am sure though you will be able to make your deadline, and in any case they are moveable feasts...

Steaming ahead? Are you mad?! No such luck, I'm afraid. I need some of that fairy dust, too.

Kate, I might well have a couple of pics in my potential heroes folder that might give some Greek inspiration. All opportunities for procrastination are greatly received, so I shall have a hunt through and get back to you. Would have more to choose from if I had my pc back as I failed to copy all the pics to my laptop before the pc went on the blink!

As for not being selfish, I'm afraid I am as I still have my Mr Perfect under wraps!!!!!!!!!!

Love,
Mags xx

What a fabulous photo!

I've just spent a week on a canal boat from Nantwich to Market Drayton and back. The colours along the canal were absolutely stunning... golden leaves, bright red rose hips, glistening black berries... yes, autumn sure is beautiful. All I need now is a wood burner and everything would be purrrrrfect.
