But I suspect it'll be a while before I can forget Tristan de Losada Montavalo...

In the meantime I have to hit the ground running with all the things that need washing/ironing/cleaning/arranging before we go away for the weekend tomorrow. And as it's my husband's birthday on Monday there's a fair amount of buying and wrapping involved too. Often feel that my life is horribly reminiscent of some banal Reality TV show where the tasks are increasingly unachievable (but also very dull).
The only thing that's cheering me up is that it's His 40th birthday! Haha! Since I haven't exactly excelled myself on the planning, any ideas for presents or ways to mark the milestone would be greatly appreciated...

Oh gosh, don't forget to breathe, India!

Forty HE may be soon, but they never really grow up. Toys always go down well in our house(three remote control helicopters at the last count). Don't forget the batteries though!

It might be a bit late now but Mine spent about an hour salivating over this site over the weekend:

Have a brilliant weekend away--you've really earned it!

Have a lovely weekend away, I'm guessing that you're not going to Venice then? Oh well, there's always next year.
You must go you know, you'll fall in love with it, and you could then write another book based in Italy.
xx Karen

Hmm - you could get the family involved on this one - make a special photo album, with captions to go with the pics, of "highlights" in the last 40 years.

I do this on milestone birthdays (just for the previous 10 years) and the recipients love it. Especially the embarassing stuff :o)

Congratulations on getting the book in - I know the feeling. I hope your editor loves it.

Take a deep breath and enjoy the peace - and tell DH that we wish him the happiest of birthdays on the big day
